under construction

April 5th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Please pardon the chaotic appearance of this blog as I undergo some redesign…. or you can sit back and laugh at how long it is taking me to figure out how to make what seems to be the simplest of changes.  I also hope to be soon moving this whole thing to www.bloggingforjesus.net

we’ll see how it goes

New Direction

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Ok, I know that today is not Tuesday - but I am seriously thinking about which direction I want to take these websites.  It has only been four months since I have started all of this online hoopla - I have not really told anyone in my family, husband and mom really.  I find myself rather addicted to the idea of making money from these ventures since I am the kind of person that just can’t relax - I have this need or want to do something.  I have really given it a lot of thought and prayer and have come to realize that I have wasted a lot of time in the past four months and my kiddos and household has suffered for it.  So what to do?  I guess this has all come about because the fourth bill for my hosting has come due and I guess somewhere in the back of my mind I thought I would be making at least enough to pay for the bill.  I just kinda feel……  aaaarerrrrrgggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!  right now.  This is a lot more work than I thought it was going to be and a lot harder to maintain than I thought - I’m not sure where I want to go - I haven’t had any coffee today, so I’m a little off kilter.

So here’s my dilema -

I want my blog to be focused on working at home and christian values.

I want my website to be redesigned so that it focuses only on real working opportunities - not the crap that you have to pay for.  I also want to be able to send out a newsletter, and make money from advertisements.  With that said - I am going to try and tackle this for now.

Oh - and I also want to try and do better at running this blog.  While redesigning?  ugh.

I’ve got to go change a diaper

;-)

Birthday Party

January 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Nathan is having his birthday party on Saturday.  We are looking into getting one of those jump houses…. but I have no idea how expensive they were.  Gracyn is her normal fit throwing self! (she’ll be 3 march 28.)  I don’t know how most women manage to get any work done from home.  I decided at one point to move my computer into another room so that she could play and I could get some serious work done, that didn’t last too long, because of course - the baby wanted attention.  Anyway, after all day of struggling to accomplish one stupid little thing on my site - I finally figured out that it wasn’t going to work and gave up!  Here’s pretty much how my day went….

Nice to meet ya!

January 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, here we are.  After many long hours of set up and checking, It’s finally nice to be established as an offcial “blog”.  Since this blog is so brand new -  let me explain how things are set up and categorized.  Because I want it all and want it the way I want it - I chose a wordpress blog that would suit my needs.  This is the cutline 3-column split blog that I customized to make it match my sites (The Baby Attic & The Work at Home Attic).  If you are interested in starting a blog - and clueless as to how to do so, then you can email me with any ?s you have and I’ll see if I can help.

I am in no way an expert on blogs or html or css or anything of the like, I did all of this trial by error and by searching different forums to find ways to do things.  My main purpose in setting this blog up is to give people who are trying to work from home using the computer/internet a place to share comments, questions, or feedback on different work at home programs.

To start with, because I wanted both a business blog and a personal blog - but not two seperate blogs - I created a custom navigation bar at the top of the page to include different types of pages in the same blog - you will find the typical home link & the contact link (which also contains more info about who I am).  Here is some info about the other links:

TACKLE IT TUESDAY - I am a big “project” person.   I have remodeled my kitchen, my bathroom, painted our entire house, and re-arranged furniture more times than I can even remember.  It’s part of who I am and I know that it doesn’t have anything to do with working at home, but it is my home, it is where I work and working at home can be a project that needs tackling in and of itself sometimes.  I digress…..  on this page, you will find some projects that need tackling and since I’m an old teacher and since teachers do well with alliteration, then I will lovingly call this spot what it is and will probably only be posting to it on Tuesday with whatever project I am tackling at the moment.

WORD 4 WEDNESDAY - I have seen many blogs do a “wordless” wednesday, where the blogger will just post a picture and people will comment on the picture.  I thought, well that’s kinda cool, but when I hear the word “word” I think of the most important “word” and thought to myself “why would I want to do “word-LESS”  Life is dull wihout words, so let’ have a spot where all of my bloggers and stay at home workers or moms or dads or whoever could gather and comment on a weekly scripture, post prayer requests, or share life-changing spiritual moments.  Earning money is important, staying at home to raise kids is important, but there is nothing more important to me than my own personal relationship with Christ and it truly is my deepest desire to share my faith with others, and this is just a way to do just that!

WORKING AT HOME - This is a page dedicated to working at home (duh).  Don’t know exactly how it will turn out or what we will end up with, but there are so many different ways to earn money from home (even if you are stuffing envelopes!) we can talk about it here!

WE ARE FAMILY - Like I said earlier, I wanted a personal blog and a business blog but not 2 seperate blogs - well…..  meet the fam!  I’ve got a husband who travels quite  a bit, 3 children (Nathan, Gracyn, and Whitley), 2 sisters, lots of aunts and uncles - which makes for lots of cousins, neices, nephews, I could go on and on and on…….   I like to tell people that we are not like other families…..  we’re better!  We love each other and actually look forward to family holidays and (gasp) even purposely plan events with each other (I know….  gasp gasp!).  Because I want to keep in touch with my family and let them know what’s happening in my life - I suppose the whole world could find out too!

Tthere are some categories to the top left that deal with different types of work at home jobs (data entry/Google Adwords or Adsense, selling on Ebay, paid surveys, affiliate programs and the like).  Here you will find articles & tips on working from home. And over to the right you will find different links (There are none there now, so feel free to email me and ask me to link exchange with you!)  Tell me a little about your blog, or site, and I’ll stick it in the right category!

That’ all for now!  Check back often for posts and updates!
